LAWYERIN' IN TOMPKINS COUNTY COURT (felony cases)
Remember in New York, if you are charged TWICE within 10 years with a DWI, you are facing a felony charge. Also, DWI charge with a child in the car or a DWI charge that involves personal injury will be felonies.
If so, you will be in TOMPKINS COUNTY COURT.
I practice in this building all the time. The Judge's chambers and the small court room are on the first floor. The large court room is on the second floor. The District Attorney's Office is on the third floor.
This courthouse also handles all the family cases in Tompkins County. You will be searched and put through a metal detector when you walk in.

FOR FELONY LEVEL CRIMINAL AND DWI CASES, the County Court will receive jurisdiction from a lower level City or Town Court only if:
-you are indicted by a Grand Jury
-you decide to plea by Supreme Court Information (SCI)

*Many different Asst. District Attorney have felony level case loads, Deputy District Attorney Andrew Bonavia, ADA Gary Surdell, ADA Diane Lama, ADA Wendy Franklin, ADA Dan Johnson, ADA Eliza Filipowski.
Every case is different once you get to felony level as to who will handle it on the DA's side of the ball.
